Children's Liturgy

Liturgy of the Word for Children

Liturgy of the Word for Children takes place during the “Liturgy of the Word” at the Sunday Mass.  All children ages 4 through 6 are invited to participate on Sunday at the 9:00 am or 10:30 am Masses. The children are invited to come to the altar, and then are led to the basement by an adult facilitator. The readings are from the children’s lectionary and correspond with the readings the adults are hearing in the church. Following the readings the children enter into a discussion of the readings they heard, and how they can relate them to their life. They participate in their own Prayers of the Faithful. They return to the church following the Prayers of the Faithful during the collection.

Volunteers To Assist With Children’s Liturgy of the Word

We need volunteers to assist as we provide an informal setting that helps our children grow in their faith through the teaching of ordinary women, men and teens.

Volunteer Requirements

  1. Age 13 and older
  2. Police Check
  3. Devote a few minutes to session preparation – lessons are provided
  4. Be willing to volunteer every few weeks for about 20 minutes during mass

Our Needs: women, men and teen volunteers

Grandparents and parents – please consider being a volunteer for our younger members!  Parents are invited to attend with their children, and we also encourage you to take the training and become a group facilitator or assistant.

Please contact our Pastoral Minister, Joanne Montague, for more information.
