Intercessory Prayer Ministry

The Intercessory group was formed in the early fall of 2006. Meetings started in a home and moved to St. Matthews Parish Oakville in 2007.

The Charism of the Intercessory group:

Contemplative – gift of silent prayer, an active listening to God’s voice.

In silence and in the stillness, God is telling us that we can experience Him. Ps 46:10. (Catechism of the Catholic Church -CCC 2709-19).

Charismatic - open to the charismatic gifts of the Holy Spirit to build up the church. (1 Cor 12:4-11 and CCC 768-99). Specifically, the gift of prayer and intercession from the Holy Spirit – Romans 8:26-27 "Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes with us with sighs too deep for words."

The Intercessory Mission Statement and Structure

  • As Intercessors, we "stand in the gap" between God and those we are praying for, asking the Lord for His mercy and blessings. Ezekiel 22:30
