Since the founding of our parish, music ministry has been an integral part of parish life, and has been served by several dedicated volunteers, both singers and instrumentalists alike. The senior choir at the 10:30 Mass has grown continuously over the years, and currently boasts some 40 members, including choristers and instrumentalists. In addition, the parish children's choir sings once per month at the 9:00 Mass, and the youth choir sings weekly at the Sunday evening Mass. Since 2002, the music ministry and parish choirs have been under the direction of Dwayne Cahill.
Music for the Sunday liturgies is supported as follows:
- Saturday (5:00): Organ/Piano with Cantor
- Sunday (9:00): Organ/Piano with Cantor or Children's Choir
- Sunday (10:30): Senior Choir (Sunday after Labour Day to end of June)
- Sunday (12:00): Organ/Piano with Cantor
- Sunday (7:00): Organ/Piano with Cantor or Youth Choir
The hymnals used in our parish are the Catholic Book of Worship III, and Celebrate in Song. The Responsorial Psalms chanted at the Sunday liturgies are taken from Psalms for Sundays and Solemnities.
Our parish is blessed to have two high-quality keyboard instruments to support the singing of the congregation. In 2003, a 5’5” Kawai RX-1 grand piano was installed in the church, and in 2006, a 3-manual Content Pastorale Mondri M5800 was installed. These are often supported by other instruments, including guitar, drums, flute, trumpet, harp, violin, and cello.
